There are two main types of careers advice for engineering students: at the faculty level through the Career Counseling Unit; and Student Affairs and Alumni Relations, Office of Education. The whole engineering program and the Office of Education organize various activities to provide direct and individualized recommendations as well as career guidance to students who seek advice.
The Career Counseling Unit has responsibility for advising students directly in terms of professional licenses, recommendation letters for job applications, resumes/statements of purpose approval for internships or job applications, and for applications related to study abroad.
The following activities set up by the Student Affairs and Alumni Relations, Office of Education are provided to all engineering students to support their professional competence.
Career support and guidance for newly enrolled engineering students begin immediately, before the first semester starts. All new freshmen join activities known as “Born to be Engineer” which have been organized since 2019 under the responsibility of the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Student Affairs (https://www.eg.mahidol.ac.th/egmu/all-news/2736-born-to-be-engineer-2019.html; https://www.eg.mahidol.ac.th/egmu/all-news/2907-born-to-be-engineer-2020.html). This activity takes first-year students on a field trip to visit industrial companies that are key strategic partners of Mahidol University. This is the first time for new engineering students to have a foretaste of their future professional careers with respect to such things as product design, design process, high-level technology processing or manufacturing, as well as safety issues. From freshmen through seniors, career guidance will continue to be provided by both all engineering programs and the Student Affairs and Alumni Relations, Office of Education.
