On March 12, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanapat Wanichanon, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Mahidol University, along with the executive team and lecturers, participated in the opening ceremony of the Taiwan-Thailand Overseas Research and Technology Innovation Center (TTSTC). The event was a collaboration between Mahidol University and National Cheng Kung University and took place at the MU-NCKU Joint Research Center, Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University. The primary objective of this project is to promote collaborations in science research and technology innovation between Taiwan and Thailand. Aligned with the 2024 Taiwan Science and Technology strategic plan, the focus areas include 5+2 industry innovation, smart country initiatives, generative AI, net zero emissions, gerontechnology, space, and 6G technologies. The project aims to bridge Thailand's Cabinet-approved 2023-2027 Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Policy and Strategy, Higher Education Plan, and Science, Research and Innovation Plan.
The Taiwan-Thailand Overseas Science Research and Technology Innovation Center (TTSTC) will be established in Thailand, with a major focus on Healthtech, smart living, a resilient society, and a sustainable environment. The action plans encompass collaborations in higher education, talent cultivation, research, and industry cooperation. The initiative aims to promote international collaborations throughout Thailand, considering geographical distributions.
