On February 23, 2024, Professor Makoto Usami, Vice Dean, Professor Shigeo Fujii, visiting professor of the Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies (GSGES), Kyoto University and Professor Thanapat Wanichanon, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University officially open the Education and Research Unit: Partnership Office and On-Site Laboratory, between Kyoto University and Mahidol University at Innogineer Studio, Floor 1, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University.

Kyoto University launched the "On-site Laboratory" initiative in September 2018 as part of its strategy under the education ministry's Designated National University (DNU) program. GSGES established the "Kyoto University On-site Laboratory at Mahidol University for Educational and Research Collaboration in Environmental Studies" in 2019 under this initiative in partnership with Mahidol University's Faculty of Engineering. Kyoto University On-site Laboratory at Mahidol University will be a hub of innovation, collaboration, and discovery. It is a space where ideas will be nurtured, experiments will be conducted, and breakthroughs will be made, emphasizing that the two universities have a good relationship and will maintain this for the future.
