On December 14, 2023, Asst. Prof. Dr. Korporn Panyim, Deputy Dean for Administration, Research, and Innovation, and Dr. Mushtag Ahmed Memon, Regional Coordinator for Resource Efficiency at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Asia Pacific Regional Office, honored the opening session of the Expert Consultation Workshop at The Sukosol Hotel, Bangkok. The workshop was established by Prof. Chettiyappan Visvanathan, Project Director and a lecturer from Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. The event comprised five workshop sessions, including:
Session 1: "Policy approaches to plastic pollution," lectured by Dr. Yasuhiko HOTTA, Programme Director of the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES).
Session 2: "Financing responses to plastic pollution," lectured by Dr. Vincent Aloysius, Team Leader of Development Project Seureca.
Session 3: "Technology solutions to plastic pollution," lectured by Dr. Vasimon Ruanglek, Innovative Alliances Manager, Circular Economy.
Session 4: "Data, knowledge needs/gaps," lectured by Mr. Michikazu KOIIMA, Senior Advisor to the President on Environmental Issues at the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) Office SCG, Thailand.
Session 5: "Citizen actions/Empowering citizens," lectured by Dr. Boonchanit Wongprapinkul, Project Manager of Plastic Smart Cities, WWF Thailand.
