17-18 July 2026: the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pornthip Keangin, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Chairman of the Born to Be Engineer 2023 project took first year students of academic year 2023 on a field trip. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jackrit Suthakorn presided over the Born to Be Engineer 2023 project and gave welcome speech at Hotel Nikko Amata City Chonburi. The event was honored by Khun Vikrom Kromadit, a businessman, founder, and Chairman of the Executive Committee (CEO), Amata Corporation Limited who welcomed the students. He shared concepts and perspectives to inspire new students as well.
Born to Be Engineer is an annual activity, which the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, takes prospective first year students on field trips to help them recognize and aware of the importance of being engineers in the future. They are inspired both at national and global levels while experiencing the operation of establishments that are related to engineering, linking this to the engineering career that they are beginning to study, linking with the courses before the first semester opens. The program of the field trips includes studying at the AMATA SERVICE CENTER and AMATA Water Treatment, both within the Amata City Industrial Estate, Chon Buri, BMW Manufacturing (Thailand) Company Limited, Amata B. Grim Power Public Company Limited, Delta Electronics (Thailand), Thai Nakano Company Limited and Hitachi Company Limited.
There are also activities which creates a bond between the lecturers, faculty members, and students who participate in the project. This includes the Dean of the Faculty and the executive team, as well as staff from all departments. They all come to take part in activities, bless and welcome the new students who are entering the engineering programs of Mahidol Engineering. The atmosphere is warm with all faculty and around 200 new students staying at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suite Sriracha, Chon Buri Province.
