On May 22-23, 2023, the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University hosted an event at the Landmark Hotel, Bangkok: “Engineering Course Development for ABET Accreditation Workshop”. This event was honored by qualified lecturers who gave presentations about preparing for ABET Accreditation. These included Dr. Sithisak Preukpitikul, TQA Assessor; Prof. Dr. Methi Vecharathana, Association President of the Association of Thai Professionals in America and Canada (ATPAC); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Veera Chankong, a professional from The Association of Thai Professionals in America and Canada (ATPAC); and Asst. Prof. Dr. Pinyo Puangmali, Head of Mechanical Engineering, Chiang Mai University.
.The objective of this event was to encourage engineering courses to achieve the standards of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) from the USA. At the event, there were presentations from qualified lecturers including Prof. Dr. Methi Vecharathana, Association President of the Association of Thai Professionals in America and Canada (ATPAC) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Veera Chankong, a professional from The Association of Thai Professionals in America and Canada (ATPAC), who came to lecture on the topic of “Road to ABET Accreditation: Preparing ABET Accreditation”. Other qualified lecturers from leading institutions came to give information on many topics to help preparations for ABET Accreditation. These included Asst. Prof. Dr. Pinyo Puangmali, Head of Mechanical Engineering, Chiang Mai University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phavanee Narataruksa, from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology North Bangkok (KMITNB); and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chatchai Jothityangkoon, Vice President of Academic and Quality Assurance from Suranaree University of Technology.
There was also an academic forum discussing ABET accredited courses in Thailand. The 6 subject representatives were:
1. Asst. Prof. Konglit Hunchangsith, from Computer Engineering;
2. Asst. Prof. Dr. Wanida Koo-amornpattana, Department Chair of Chemical Engineering;
3. Asst. Prof. Dr. Rung Kittichai, Department Chair of Mechanical Engineering;
4. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Benchaporn Lertanantawong, from Biomedical Engineering;
5. Dr. Supun Tiptipakorn, Department Chair of Electrical Engineering; and
6. Asst. Prof. Dr. Wasaporn Techapeeraparnic, from Civil and Environmental Engineering.
