On November 4, 2021, Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, M.D., President of Mahidol University, gave the opening remarks at "Mahidol – Imperial College London Medical Robotics" academic seminar. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication, Mahidol University stated the Mahidol University's international cooperation policy.

This seminar was organized by Mahidol University, Imperial College London, UK, and IEEE Robotics & Automation Society Thailand Chapter to exchange knowledge and create collaboration opportunities in education, research, and innovation in engineering and medicine. This is to promote and develop excellence in Medical Robotics, create sustainability, and increase national competitiveness as a response to the policy of the ‘Reinventing University’ project of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. It pushes forward the strategic group to develop professionals and create specialized fields in medical robotics at Mahidol University and across the country.

This academic seminar was honored by Prof. Ferdinando Rodriguez y Baena, Co-Director of Hamlyn Center for Medical Robotics and Director of Mechatronics in Medicine Laboratory, Imperial College London, as a Keynote Speaker on "Surgical Robotics: Lessons Learnt and New Trends" and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jackrit Suthakorn, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, as a Keynote Speaker on "Two Decades in Medical Robotics Research at BART LAB, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University".

Ramathibodi Hospital Med Talks section was given by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sorayouth Chumnanvej, MD, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, who was a Keynote Speaker on "The Assistive Cobot for Spinal Surgery (ACoSS)" and Dr. Peeraya Ruthiraphong, MD, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, who was a Keynote Speaker on "Rehabilitation Technology".

The Siriraj Hospital Med Talks section was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rattaphol Tuangthong, MD, Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, as a Keynote Speaker on "Robotic Hair Transplantation" and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sittiporn Srinualnad, MD, Chief of Urology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, as a Keynote Speaker on the topic "Robotic Surgery: Challenging Pearl of the New Millennium".

The Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital and Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University have cooperated in research and innovations in engineering and medicine with many innovative projects such as Medical Robotics, Surgical Robotics, Assistive Cobot for Spinal Surgery Rehabilitation Technology, Robotic Hair Transplantation, Robotic Surgery, etc.

Mahidol University continues cooperation with Imperial College London to develop excellence in medical robotics, produce specialized high-performance manpower according to the needs of the country in a global context, and meet the project objectives to transform the higher education system in Thailand, ‘Reinventing University: Medical Robotics Program to support investment for strategic industries in Thailand’.
