On 30th November – 3rd December 2017, Asst. Prof. Dr. Pornthip Keangin, Assistant Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Lecture of Department of Mechanical Engineering, together with student representatives received first runner-up and special award from Korea Invention Promotion Association for "Intelligence Patient Lifting Equipment" at Seoul, South Korea.
Nowadays, paralysis patients in Thailand have increased more and more every year. However, moving the patient by lifting, or supporting the patient in the wrong way, it may affect the patient. Staff who lift and move paralysis patients might be risky for occupational disease, for example, low back pain, and musculoskeletal pain. Therefore tools, devices, or clinical technology could help to lift and move the patient and reduce the risk of occupational disease.
Intelligence patient lifting equipment can help the lifting of patient movement completely. It can help reduce the risk of disease that can be caused by lifting the patient and reduce the impact on the patient caused by lifting the patient in the wrong way. In addition, it can help to reduce the working time and reduces the number of personnel in moving patients. Including it can be to prevent the occupational disease on the service providers. This inventions can be used for patients with mobility impairment such as patients with paresis or stroke (cerebrovascular accident (CVA) or hemiplegia and paraplegia to lift for patients from a private car go to bed or and wheelchair and from bed or and wheelchair go to a private car. The design ideas of this invention are available for both sloping and flat surfaces, the high can be adjusted, safety and with modern design.
