On 17 July 2026, the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, participated in the UK- THAILAND SCIENCE & INNOVATION 1979-2026: SHAPING THE FUTURE TOGETHER event at the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. The Faculty was represented by Associate Professor Dr. Panrasee Ritthipravat of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, who delivered a presentation entitled “Empowering AI Learning with Floaino.” The event was organized to celebrate more than four decades of collaboration in science, research, and innovation between Thailand and the United Kingdom, while also providing a platform for knowledge exchange and discussions on future collaborative opportunities.

During the event, Professor Dr. Piyamitr Sritara, President of Mahidol University, delivered a welcome address to Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, Princess Anne of the United Kingdom. The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr.Pattana Promphat, Minister of Public Health of Thailand. Participants also watched a presentation on the ASEAN-UK Health Security Partnership, a collaborative initiative between the United Kingdom and ASEAN member states aimed at strengthening health security, enhancing disease surveillance systems, and promoting the One Health approach to address emerging diseases and public health threats across the region.

The event highlighted significant milestones in UK-Thailand cooperation in science and innovation. These include support for research, human resource development, research networking, and collaborative educational and research initiatives across various disciplines. These efforts have contributed positively to sustainable social and economic development in both countries. Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal also saw a video presentation featuring the experiences of melioidosis patients. The video underscored the impact of the disease and the importance of strengthening health security. She later delivered a keynote address and visited displays showcasing projects supported through UK-Thailand collaborative programs, while engaging with patients and representatives from participating organizations.

The event also featured displays of research and innovation projects resulting from partnerships between Thai and UK institutions. The projects covered a wide range of fields, including healthcare and medicine, biotechnology, agriculture and food, clean energy, climate change, and digital technologies - areas that play a vital role in driving future national development. Participation in this event reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University to advancing international academic and research collaboration, strengthening partnerships with leading institutions worldwide, and developing science, technology, and innovation to create sustainable solutions for society at both national and global levels.
