On 2 February 2026, members of the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Thanapat Wanichanon, Dean of the Faculty, visited Harbin Engineering University (HEU), People’s Republic of China. The Dean was accompanies by an executive team, including Assistant Professor Dr. Pattaraporn Posoknistakul, Deputy Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication; Assistant Professor Dr. Wasaporn Techapeeraparnich, Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs; and Associate Professor Dr. Teraphan Ornthammarath, Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. They participated in the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the College of Intelligent Systems Science and Engineering, HEU.
The MOA aims to strengthen academic and research cooperation between the two institutions, particularly in the areas of student and faculty exchange as well as the development of joint academic programs. Leaders from both institutions exchanged their views on the future direction of engineering education in an era of advanced technology. They emphasized the importance of building a sustainable international collaboration network.
During the visit, the delegation from Mahidol University toured the MU-HEU Office located at the College of Intelligent Systems Science and Engineering. This serves as a coordination center for bilateral cooperation. The visit provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss plans for joint activities, including collaborative research projects, innovation development, and initiatives to enhance student potential.
The partnership between the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, and Harbin Engineering University marks a significant step toward elevating Thailand’s engineering education to the global stage. It also opens valuable opportunities for students to gain experience in a multicultural environment, strengthen professional skills, and develop knowledge that will contribute to Thailand’s future development.
