On August 14, 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Thanapat Wanichanon, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University welcomed Dr. Jianquan Liu, Director and Head of the Video Insights Discovery Research Group of the Visual Intelligence Research Laboratories, NEC Corporation. The Dean was accompanied by Associate Professor Dr. Benchaporn Lertanantawong, Deputy Dean for Research and Academic Services, Assistant Professor Dr. Pattaraporn Posoknistakul, Deputy Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication, Assistant Professor Dr. Konlakorn Wongpatikaseree, Head of the Department of Computer Engineering, and Professor Paisarn Muneesawang from the Department of Computer Engineering.

The visit was part of an academic meeting and special lecture on advancing research and innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies. The event was held in Meeting Room R114, Building 1 of the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University.

Dr. Liu delivered a lecture titled “Advances in NEC’s Research and Innovation in AI and Digital Technologies”. This highlighted cutting-edge advancements in AI and digital innovation made by NEC. The session provided a platform for faculty members, researchers, and students to exchange knowledge and gain in-depth perspectives, inspiring creativity and fostering ideas for future collaborative research.

The event was organized under the Reinventing University Project, supported by the fiscal year 2024 budget, that aims to enhance the university’s capability to develop research and innovations that address global challenges.

Dr. Liu’s visit marks another significant step for the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, in building strategic partnerships with leading global research and technology organizations. This strengthens Thailand’s academic and innovation potential on the international stage.
