On July 18, 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Thanapat Wanichanon, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, with representatives from the Faculty of Medical Technology, joined Professor Dr. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, with Dr. Yujiro Maeda, Director of the Department of Biodesign, University of Tokyo Hospital. Representatives from both universities were present to witness this milestone.

Building upon the existing university-level agreement, this academic collaboration strengthens the partnership between Mahidol University and the University of Tokyo. The aim is to enhance academic and research collaboration at the curriculum level between the two. Discussions included joint development of Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy programs in Biodesign in Medicine (International Program) at Mahidol University.

This partnership marks an important step in driving medical biodesign knowledge between Thailand and Japan. It will foster innovation in medical technologies and promote the development of high-quality, internationally competent professionals.
