On July 14, 2025, the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Thanapat Wanichanon, Dean, together with Assistant Professor Dr. Ronnachai Sirovetnukul, Deputy Dean for Human Capital and Information Management, and IT personnel, participated in The 5th Standardized Practice for MSU-SOS Operation in Thailand. The training took place at the Siriraj Stroke Center, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.
This event marked a significant collaboration aimed at enhancing Thailand’s emergency stroke care system through the operations of the Mobile Stroke Unit (MSU). Mahidol Engineering played a vital role in providing academic and technological support, including data system integration, engineering systems, and the development of field-ready medical equipment. The Mobile Stroke Unit (MSU) represents a systems-based innovation that bridges engineering, medicine, and information technology. It increases survival rates, reduces disability, and helps close the gap in healthcare access, especially for patients in remote areas. The initiative reflects a practical application of interdisciplinary innovation for the betterment of public health nationwide.
The training was designed to prepare and empower multidisciplinary teams from Somdejphra Yupparat hospitals across Thailand. These healthcare teams will be crucial in delivering standardized, timely, and effective care for patients experiencing acute stroke, ensuring equal access to life-saving treatment in every region.
