On June 24, 2025, Assistant Professor Dr. Pattaraporn Posoknistakul, Deputy Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University (MUEG), visited Kyoto University - one of Japan’s top institutions and a long-standing academic partner of the Faculty. The visit was to express appreciation for several years of fruitful collaboration and to discuss new initiatives to enhance academic and research cooperation between the two institutions.
During the visit, Assistant Professor Dr. Pattaraporn met with Professor Izuru Saizen, Vice Dean of the Laboratory of Regional Planning, and Professor Chihiro Tanaka, Dean of the Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies and Graduate School of Agriculture. The discussions focused on expanding joint programs such as double degree options, short-term student exchanges, and collaborative PhD research. The delegation also explored plans for future workshops and academic events to support the international learning experience for students.
Further discussions were held with Professor Shinya Echigo of the Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies, and Professor Noriaki Sano from the Graduate School of Engineering, Division of Chemical Engineering. These meetings emphasized the potential for integrated curriculum development and inter-country learning, aiming to provide students from both universities with valuable international exposure and multi-cultural academic experiences.
In addition, Assistant Professor Dr. Pattaraporn engaged with Assistant Professor Dr. Yosuke Muranaka and Professor Ken-Ichiro Sotowa from the Department of Chemical Engineering to explore further collaborative research opportunities. She also visited Mahidol Chemical Engineering students currently interning at Kyoto University - an important step toward building stronger interpersonal and institutional ties at the ground level.
This visit marks a significant milestone in deepening the strategic partnership between Mahidol Engineering and Kyoto University, paving the way for long-term international collaboration and global academic excellence.
