The Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, through the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, in collaboration with Chiang Mai University, the University of Sheffield, Pattanasiri Engineering Co., Ltd., Tha Chiang Thong Co., Ltd., and the Environmental Engineering Association of Thailand, organized a short-term training course on “Improving Biogas Production Efficiency and Community Biogas Grid Systems” under the project “Biogas Empowerment: Accelerating Community Grids and Collaborative Networks in Thailand (BEACON).” The course took place at the Chamcha Room, Le Meridien Chiang Rai Resort, as well as online via the Zoom application.
This course aimed to create knowledge and understanding of biogas technology, covering topics such as the production process, system design, maintenance, and technological and economic feasibility studies. The lectures were delivered by expert speakers from various institutions, including: Assistant Professor Dr. Patiroop Pholchan from Chiang Mai University, Mr. Nattakorn Towiwek, an environmental engineer and biogas technology expert, Mr. Alongkorn Siriphat from Pattanasiri Engineering Co., Ltd., and Associate Professor Dr. Trakarn Prapaspongsa from Mahidol University. The training course successfully attracted 175 participants, with 45 attending on-site at Le Meridien Chiang Rai Resort and 130 attending online.
This short-term training course is part of the project “Empowering Biogas by Accelerating the Construction of Community Biogas Networks,” led by Associate Professor Dr. Trakarn Prapaspongsa, Lecturer in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, and Chairman of the Academic Affairs Division at the Environmental Engineering Association of Thailand, together with Dr. Davide Poggio from the University of Sheffield. The project is supported by the Transforming Systems through Partnership 2023–2024 grant from the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), under the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC), in collaboration with Pattanasiri Engineering Co., Ltd., and the Royal Academy of Engineering.
