On June 25, 2024, lecturers and students of the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, received awards and participated in the Mahidol University SDGs Showcase 2024. The event was organized in collaboration with the Mahidol University Council, Faculty of Graduate Studies, Institute for Technology and Innovation Management, International Relations Division Office, Physical and Environmental Division, and Mahidol Planning Division. The goal was to help personnel and students understand and realize the importance of sustainable development goals in accordance with Sustainable Development Goal 17. The event was honored by Clinical Prof. Emeritus Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, Chairman of the University Council, who gave the opening speech. University council committee members, executives, personnel, students, and honored guests attended the event in the foyer area of Prince Mahidol Hall, Salaya.
The following awards were received by participants from activities supporting the driving of sustainable development policies (SDGs):
1. Innovation for Campus Sustainability 2024 Award:
- First place winner: The BrainTeazer Team from Biomedical Engineering students.
2. Outstanding Thesis Awards Promoting Mahidol University’s SDGs Policies for the Fiscal Year 2024:
- "A Participation-Based Ecosystem Framework for Community Water Supply Business" by Dr. Narongsak Sukma, an alumnus from the Doctor of Philosophy (Information Technology Management) program, advised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adisorn Leelasantitham.
- "Spatially Differentiated Health Impacts and Costs of Fine Particulate Matter Formation from Agricultural Waste Management in Thailand" by Ms. Aakriti Deuja, a student from the Master of Engineering Program in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering (International Program), advised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trakarn Prapaspongsa.
- Biodegradation of Plastic by Actinomycetes Isolated from Soils and Plastic Wastes in Thailand" by Ms. Kawinthip Wichatham, a student from the Master of Engineering Program in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering (International Program), advised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suwanna Boontanon.
- "Potential Mass Production of Multiwalled-Carbon Nanotubes from Liquid Aromatic Hydrocarbons via Catalytic Chemical Vapor Deposition" by Ms. Myat Thiri San, a student from the Master of Engineering Program in Chemical Engineering (International Program), advised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Weerawut Chaiwat.
3. Scholarship for Thesis Promoting SDGs Policies for the Fiscal Year 2024:
- A 150,000 Baht Scholarship Fund: "Assessment on Health Impacts and Costs of Fine Particulate Matter Formation in Thailand" by Mrs. Maywalin Jumsai Na Ayudhya, a student from the Doctor of Philosophy Program in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering (International Program), advised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trakarn Prapaspongsa.
- A 100,000 Baht Scholarship Fund: "Using Bio-Based Hybrid Granular Activated Carbon for Adsorption of Uremic Toxins to Regenerate Dialysate in Hemodialysis System" by Ms. Nuttawan Arpasopana, a student from the Master of Engineering Program in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering (International Program), advised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Weerawut Chaiwat.
4. "Grand Pitching Challenge" Mahidol SDGs Impact Challenge 2024:
- Klong Klean Team from the Bachelor of Engineering Program in Industrial Engineering students.
- Edible Spoon Team from the Bachelor of Engineering Program in Industrial Engineering (Dairy and Beverage Engineering: DBE) students.
- Carbon Polymerizing System Team from the Biomedical Engineering students.
