On May 22, 2024, students from the Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, advanced to the final round of the 9th PTTEP Teenergy competition and secured the first runner-up and honorable mention awards in The 3rd Young Ocean for Life Innovation Challenge. This event was organized by PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) at ICONSIAM. Dr. Jetsada Arnin, Assistant Dean for Corporate Communications, attended the event to extend congratulations, along with Dr. Donlaporn Saetae, Lecturer in the Department of Industrial Engineering, who served as an advisor.
This year, the competition saw participation from 118 teams representing 44 institutions nationwide. Two teams from the Department of Industrial Engineering (International Program), with a major in Dairy and Beverage Engineering (DBE), Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, earned accolades in The 3rd Young Ocean for Life Innovation Challenge. The achievements are as follows:
1.The Luk Moo Gang Team: Comprising fourth-year students, this team won the first runner-up position with their project titled "Siren's Collection: Seaweed-derived Biodegradable Cutlery." They received a cash prize of 70,000 baht, additional funding of 40,000 baht to further their work, a plaque of honor, and a diploma.
2.Team BreamBite: Consisting of second-year students, this team earned an honorable mention for their project titled "Sustainable Ocean Protein: Protein Bites from Threadfin Bream By- Products in Surimi Production." They were awarded a cash prize of 10,000 baht, a plaque of honor, and a certificate.
