Sponsors: The British Council, under a Newton Fund Grant Agreement
Partners: Mahidol University, Newcastle University
Workshop Information:
The Workshop on “Freight Transport of the Future”, jointly co-organised by NewRail, Newcastle University (NU) and Mahidol University (MU), creates a unique and timeless opportunity for Thai Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to engage with their UK colleagues and update their knowledge on current developments in freight transport in the UK and Europe. The Workshop contributes to the capacity building of 34 ECRs and their institutions which in a longer-term will have impact on their research collaborations with policy makers and the government.
NewRail, led by Prof Robinson, is a well-established Railway Research Centre, successful in obtaining the UK and European funding for and delivery of large-scale transport research, education and consultancy projects.
MU is in the process of setting up a new research centre in logistics and rail engineering (CLARE) with Dr Weerawat, director of Logistics Innovation Center, being responsible for the cluster.
Establishing links with and securing knowledge transfer between potential research partners in Thailand, the UK and beyond are crucial for the success of the new Thai research centre.
