On Thursday 31st May 2018, CLARE team organised an engagement session for over 20 Stage 3 engineering students interested in Master in Rail programme at MU. The event was opened with an introduction to rail developments in Thailand and Bangkok, then a short lecture explained principles of rail signalling. Next, a hands-on experience with OpenTrack software engaged students in simulation modelling and a wrap us session about rail research avenues, including driverless metro, closed the event.
Overall, 5 CLARE lecturers and additional support staff delivered the 2-hour session, which aimed to inspire students in considering railways as a career option. Some of the students who attended the session were scheduled to start their summer placements on 1st June 2018 with railway companies in Bangkok, including BTS and ARL.
Similar student engagement sessions are planned to take place in the next academic year starting from August 2018.
