During 25 to 27 August 2017, Asst. Prof. Dr. Trakarn Prapaspongsa - head of Mahidol EcoLab (Eco-Efficient Engineering Research Lab), International Masters and PhD Programs in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering (EGEW), Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University - was invited to be a keynote speaker at the International Conference on Clean Water, Air & Soil 2017 (CleanWAS 2017). The main objective of her keynote speech entitled “Life Cycle Based Decision Support for Waste Management towards Sustainable Energy Production and Circular Economy” was to illustrate how various assessment tools (i.e. life cycle assessment, life cycle costing, social life cycle assessment, and sustainability assessment) can be applied for supporting decisions in waste management aiming at energy-nutrient-material recovery towards sustainable energy production and circular economy. The international conference organized by International Water, Air & Soil Conservation Society (INWASCON) was held at Centara Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre, Chaeng Watthana. In the conference, a dialogue on the potential research collaboration between Mahidol EcoLab and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), with a preliminary focus on life cycle assessment of electrical and electronic waste management in Malaysia, was also initiated.
