On 21 August 2017, Asst. Prof. Dr. Trakarn Prapaspongsa from International Masters and PhD Programs in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering (EGEW), Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kazuyuki Oshita from Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies, Kyoto University and Mr. Hideaki Anazawa, the 1st student in the Double Masters Degree Program between Mahidol University and Kyoto University visited the Nong Khaem Waste Water Treatment Plant in Bangkok, employing anaerobically digested sludge system. The treatment plant is operated by Utility Business Alliance Co. Ltd. This visit was a part of problem-based learning research entitled “Material flow analysis of wastewater sludge treatment by various technologies in Bangkok, Thailand”. The objectives of this research are to analyse the operation and management of sludge from the wastewater treatment plant in Bangkok; and to determine the most effective way by using material flow analysis methodology.
Furthermore, this visit was also a part of the course “Skills Enhancement through Problem Based Learning” for the 2nd year Masters students in the EGEW program at Mahidol University. The project under the course offered in 2017 will focus on the improvement of wastewater treatment coverage and efficiencyin Thailand.
