Fermentation Technology Research Unit (FerTechLab)
The Fertech lab is located at Room CH106-1 and CH115. We are specialized in ethanol, butanol and lactic acid fermentation and ex-situ nanofiltration. This laboratory has facilities for studying an optimal fermentation conditions that obtained from shake flasks in the shaking incubator, stationary flasks in the incubator and 1-liter, 3-liter and 10-liter stirrer tank bioreactors. Some examples of studying parameters are free or immobilized cells, single culture or co-cultures, batch, fed-batch, continuous processes, incubating temperature, air flow rate, dilution rate, reaction time, etc. In order to enhance production yield with high purity, selected types of microorganism such as alcoholic fermentation, lactic acid bacteria and amylolytic enzyme producing fungi have been studied from the first, second and third generation substrate i.e cassava root, cassava bagasse, sugarcane bagasse, raw sugar and microalgae.
